2. Audrey Wilkinson is one of the oldest vineyards in Australia, and  they’ve certainly perfected their craft. Their Semillions are award winning and the cellar door has been rated by Gourmet Traveller Wine as one of the 10 best in Australia. Perched amongst the Brokenback Mountain Ranges, they also boast a pretty spectacular view.
   
   
   
   
3. Bimbagen Estate isn’t just known for its wines, but also for its excellent restaurant, Esca. After all, you’ll need something to line your stomach! The winery building itself has been designed specifically to be able to capture the view from every angle, and you can also get a great view of the wine making operations themselves from viewing platforms surrounding the open plan facility.
   
   
   
   
4. The founder of Thomas Wines, Andrew Thomas, has been named the Hunter Valley winemaker of the year twice, and there’s a good reason. Known for specialising in Semillions, they also host events at restaurants throughout the region.
   
   
   
   
5. The Small Winemakers Centre is the perfect place to go to discover wines by growers who are too small to have their own cellar door. You might just find a new favourite, and you’ll be supporting over 15 winemakers who call the venue home.
   
6. McGuigan Wines are a household name, having won the International Winemaker of the year 4 times. It’s family run, and there’s plenty of wine to choose from, all reasonably priced.
